Membership Application Procedure 2011-2012
All clubs applying for membership in the Atlantic Soccer League (“ASL”) must complete this entire membership application within all required deadlines. Completed applications, along with a $100 check for the application fee, made payable to the ASL, should be mailed to:

The $100 application fee will be credited to your overall club balance upon acceptance.
 
Each club applying for membership should carefully review the Requirements for Membership included with this application to ensure that the club is willing and able to adhere to all Requirements for Membership.

Upcoming Time line

January 1st Applications accepted
May 1st Applications Due – acceptance on a rolling basis
May 15th Teams notified of acceptance for 2011-12 or deferred to 2012-2013
June 15th, 2011 Final Day to Return Membership Agreement and League Fees
-      Returning Clubs
Deposit of $500 ($100 per team) due April 15th
Returning clubs applying to add girls will update application specific to girls
Deposit from girls clubs will be due May 15th
June 15th, 2011 Final Day to Return Membership Agreement and League Fees
 
Application Review Process
All applications will be reviewed by the ASL executive board. The selection will be based on the following criteria.
         
1.    Standard rules for participation
a.    Must have a Director of Coaching
b.    Must enter a team in the U14, U15, U16, U17, and U18 age groups
c.    All teams must attend every event
d.    U18s will only participate in Fall/Winter events w/optional spring event
e.    Share the mission statement of the league
 
2.    Club’s History of Youth Player Development
3.    Club’s Player Development guidelines
 
Application Fee: $100
 
Club Acceptance
Upon acceptance into the ASL, your club contact will receive an email with the 2011-2012 ASL Membership Agreement. The Membership Agreement and the Initial Acceptance Fee must be returned to the ASL within 1 month of acceptance or your club will forfeit its spot in the ASL.
 
 
Member Club Requirements
 
 
Teams
In the 2011-2012 ASL season, each ASL member club will be required to field a team at the U14, U15, U16, U17, and U18 age group.
 
Competitions
In the 2011-2012 ASL season, each ASL team MUST attend every event. 3 showcase events (Bethesda, Triangle Friendlies, Jefferson Cup) and the fourth event being the League Championship event TBA.
 
Standards and Guidelines
Each ASL member club will be expected to follow and adhere to the rules and spirit and guidelines set forth by the ASL.
 
Annual Fee
If accepted, each ASL club is required to pay a $2,250 league fee (per gender) which will cover all 5 teams within each ASL club. (The $100 application fee will be credited to the $2,250 fee if your club accepts membership in the ASL). 
 
The Annual fee will cover the costs for administrating the league and costs of the ASL identification program.
 
ASL Performance Bond
Each club will post a $1,000 performance bond for the full slate of teams (5) per gender entry into the league. Clubs that are members of the boys and girls divisions will post a $1,000 bond for each gender represented for a total of $2,000. Clubs that uphold their commitment to the ASL will receive their performance back in full at the end of each seasonal year. 
 
Completion of the ASL season
All ASL teams are required to participate in the entire ASL season. Should a team or club fail to complete their season, the ASL member club’s membership in the ASL may be revoked.
