2011 ASL Summit

The ASL Summit took place Monday bringing all club reps together to discuss the current state of the league and finalize plans for the 2011-12 season.  In addition to the 25 clubs represented from up and down the East Coast, tournament directors from Bethesda, Triangle Friendlies, Jefferson Cup and SAC Showcase addressed the group about their relationship with ASL and the upcoming events.  Other presenters on the day included Pro Football Academy’s Jeff Dominguez, William & Mary Men’s Coach Chris Norris and NSCA Athletic Recruiting rep John Wilson.

The annual Summit, held this year at West Point Country Club in Virginia, was a forum to discuss the structure, policies, procedures and overall direction of the league.  Expansion was a common theme in 2011 as the league has grown from 14 boys clubs and 56 teams to 20 boys clubs and 18 girls clubs totalling 190 teams from U14-U18’s.  In addition to expansion the league leadership has kept its focus on partnering with quality clubs, playing at top events and facilities, creating a competitive environment with high exposure for the players.

The league kicks off at the Bethesda tournament in November, travels to Fayetteville for the Triangle Friendlies in January, competes in the Jefferson Cup in March and finishes the season with the ASL Championships at SAC on Memorial Day weekend.
